Electrical Engineering Technology

As an electrical engineering technology graduate, you will use your knowledge of electricity and electronics to solve problems ranging from servicing wireless communication systems to designing zero-emission electric vehicles.

As an electronic technician with an associate degree, you will use Oscilloscopes, Voltmeters, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, and many sophisticated electronic instruments to perform interesting jobs such as installing electronic office equipment, servicing electric power distribution systems, and helping engineers to prototype new designs.

As a graduate with a baccalaureate degree you will be working as an electrical technologist using sophisticated electronic design software and equipment to pursue exciting careers such as designing anti-theft systems improving automotive computer systems, and managing electric power generation systems.

Associate Degree or Electronic Technician

As a graduate with an Associate in Applied Science degree, you will be called an electronic technician.  These programs are available at many two year colleges, perhaps at a community college near your home or at a college of technology in your region.   

Preparation for an associate degree would include the following high school subjects:

Mathematics I and II

Four years of English

One year of laboratory science.

Some of these programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC of ABET), which can be found at

Many interesting jobs are available to technicians!

An electronic technician has many very interesting jobs available to them.  These jobs might include one of the following:

And many other fine jobs.

Baccalaureate degree or electrical technologist.

As a graduate with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology degree, you will be called an electrical technologist.     These programs are available at several four year colleges, either as combined four year degree programs or as upper division programs.     Either program allows transfer from a community or two year technology college.

Preparation for an associate degree would include the following high school subjects:

Mathematics I, II and III

Four years of English

Two years of laboratory science.
